My commonly asked client questions answered
What platform do you build websites on?
I primarily build websites on the wordpress.org platform. Most of the companies I work with are small to medium businesses and I feel that WordPress is powerful and flexible enough to provide a great platform for growth.
How long will my website take to build?
This depends on a lot of variants, but as long as you submit all the content, then I should be able to design, develop and launch your website in under 2 weeks.
Will my website work on mobile devices?
Yes. Your website will be mobile responsive and I will test it’s functionality across both mobile and tablet.
How much involvement will you need from me when building my website?
In order to build an effective website, I will need to work with you (the client) on certain aspects of the project. This will involve answering an in-depth questionnaire on your company and business goals, being willing to write content for your pages or at least contribute and giving timely feedback throughout the project. So yes you will be involved throughout the design and website build, but I do try my best to limit the amount of involvement that my clients have, so you have the best possible experience.
Do I have to write my own website content?
No. But I advise that you have at least some input, you know what makes your business, product or service special, and you can add a unique voice and passion that a third party copywriter would struggle to emulate. I’m always here for guidance, and if you’re really struggling I can provide you with copywriting services. Just email me for a quote if your interested in my copywriting services.
Jim you tell me your a Web Designer, but what exactly is your experience and skill set?
How much will my website cost?
The cost of a website depends on the amount of pages you want and the functionality and depth of features, so I can’t give a preset price, although as a guide my prices start from £1250 inc VAT. If you’re interested in a no obligation quote on your project, just fill in my “website Application form” and I’ll be happy to give you an accurate quote for your specific project.
What is you’re website pricing based on?
My pricing is based on my experience and the results I deliver for my clients, as well as the years of knowledge and guidance I bring and share with my clients throughout the website build.
What is the payment schedule for building a website?
I like to take payments throughout the project build, this not only supports my cash flow, but I find that it helps keep the project on schedule and ensure completion of the website. This usually involves a 25% holding deposit, 25% before I show you the live website and the remaining 50% upon completion of the project.
Do you provide Hosting and Email?
I don’t have my own servers, but I’m happy to point you to what I believe is the best providers for hosting and email and I’ll help you get it all setup.
Can you maintain my website for me?
Yes, I provide a monthly maintenance package which starts from £60pcm
What if I don’t like my website?
This has never happened to me as I always make sure that my client is happy with designs before I start work on a website and we tweak the design throughout the process to make sure we’re on the same page at all times. However as long as you have good reason for not liking the design and it doesn’t fit the initial brief, I’ll be happy to work with you to create a design your happy with.
